Everyone is welcome, which means the sessions and this site both have to be usable.

This website

The site aims at WCAG 2.1 Level AA, the standard Australian government sites work to. In practice that means:

• Text and background colours are tested for contrast, and body text sits well above the minimum ratio.
• Every page works by keyboard alone, without a mouse.
• Headings run in order, so screen readers can navigate by structure.
• Images carry alternative text describing what they show.
• Form fields have labels attached to them, not merely placeholder text.
• Text resizes when you enlarge it in your browser, and the layout reflows on a phone.
• Nothing flashes, blinks, moves on its own, or plays sound without being asked.

The site is built as plain pages rather than as an application, which is itself an accessibility decision: it loads on slow connections, works on old devices, and does not depend on scripts to show its content.

Coming to a session

Sessions are held at Mitchelton Library, 37 Heliopolis Parade, Mitchelton, a Brisbane City Council library with step-free entry, accessible toilets, and accessible parking. Seating is ordinary library seating, and there is room for wheelchairs and walking frames.

• Companions and carers are welcome, and the RSVP form asks for your party size so we can seat you together.
• Hearing. Speakers use a microphone. If you need to sit close to the front, or if a hearing loop or another arrangement would help, tell us in the RSVP form's comments field and we will arrange what we can.
• Assistance animals are welcome.
• Content. Sessions cover hard history. Each one opens with a plain content note, nobody is under pressure to stay, and leaving at any point is entirely fine.
• Support. 13YARN, the national First Nations crisis support line, answers on 13 92 76, day and night.
